Dig With An Archaeologist

Be part of an archaeological excavation!

Discover the excitement of digging at the Bodo archaeological site and learn the basic skills of excavation and artifact identification. Join in on a rare hands-on opportunity to dig alongside trained archaeologists at an amazing archaeological site on the Alberta plains. Training and equipment provided.

Age: 16 years and older (exceptions may be considered but only under adult supervision).
Duration: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Cost: $75 per person per day (includes snacks and a lunch).
You will need to provide your own breakfast, supper, and accommodations. Serviced campsites available in Bodo or stay in a local B&B. Tipi also available for rent by request at the Bodo campsite.

Dates Available: Dates are available during the month of June. Dates also available July 26-30 and August 9-13.

Arrowhead Day Camp: Ages 5-10 years old

Become an archaeologist for a day. Discover basic archaeology through fun hands-on activities. At the end of the day get your very own certificate.

Duration: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Cost: $25 per child (bag lunch required)

Buffalo Bones Day Camp: Ages 10-15 years old

Discover archaeology for a day. Learn basic hands-on field techniques with a real archaeologist. Plus tour through a designated archaeological site. At the end of the day get your very own certificate.

Duration: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Cost: $25 per child (bag lunch required)

Traditional Lifeways Family Camp

Experience and observe what aboriginal life was like on the Canadian plains before European settlement. This camp includes workshops and hands-on projects for the entire family. Complete itinerary available upon request.

Duration: 3 days
Cost: $500 per family (based on a family of 4). Includes snacks, all lunches and two suppers.
You will need: provide for your breakfasts and one supper as well as accommodations. Serviced campsite available in Bodo, B&B located nearby, or sleep in the tipi at the Bodo campground (rent upon request).

Dates Available: August 27-29, 2010. Please call if you are interested in booking a family camp outside these dates.
